Born in Palomar Hospital 1951. I have not left Escondido yet. Though I am tempted often, there is something good to be said about roots (old deep roots) I am blessed with a wonderful wife and son, great lifetime friends. All in all, life is good. I'm having a great time administering this site. Thanks to all who have joined.
School Story:
Most people think it is extremely difficult to fail Phys. Ed.
The first semester of our freshman year, Brent Belisle and I were caught by coach, throwing liquid soap at each other in the showers (remember when showers were required). We were both given F's for the semester. While the soap incident was mentioned as a reason, I think my athletic prowess, and a small problem with authority figures contributed to the grade.
Forward to the last semester of our senior year. Having established a pattern in PE, and a reputation with all of the coaches, I achieved straight D-'s from the second half of freshman year until the last quarter of the senior year. Also, I had intentionally managed to just take enough classes to graduate, but only if I passed PE that last quarter.
I buckled down by deciding not to even attend PE that final quarter (wisdom of youth). Each day, I would wave goodbye to coach Embrey as I left the EHS parking lot after 6th period. However, due to work experience "classes" (I was a lot boy at Wesloh Chevrolet for 2 periods), I had 7th period PE.
Waiting outside the gym on the last day of school, I was in a panic thinking I would get an F and thus not have enough credits to graduate. To my great amazement, I was graded a C- for not attending PE class that last quarter of our senior year. To this day I wonder if it was really that much of a pleasure not to have me there.
Clarice and I took a trip to Phoenix in January '10 to visit friends that relocated there.
Some days..... it seems like only yesterday. Other days it is a good 40 years ago or more.
May of 2007 we rode up to Salmon Idaho to visit Mike and Patti Gebel and Norm and Debbi Gallagher, in their vacation "cabins" on the Salmon river. This is how we roll, in our spare time.
Clarice thought that this was a good recent photo. It is recent, I'll give it that.
Ken and Katie were married last July. Beautiful wedding, the best I have ever been to. There are still together and we think they are still happy. No kids yet, and that is OK. I don't need to be a grandpa real soon.
